2011: a year of revolution and rebellion
In 2011 people across the world put revolution back on the agenda. Here are some highlights. From overthrown dictators to deputy prime ministers assaulted with yoghurt, it’s all here.
(1) the video was originally compiled for an audience in Melbourne, Australia, hence the occasional and possibly odd-looking sequences of the small but important protests in our little city
(2) it was edited in early December, so it misses some of the great developments in the last few weeks of 2011 (eg. the mass pro-democracy protests in Moscow, the climax of the rebellion in the Chinese village of Wukan, and the latest developments in the ongoing Arab revolutions).

Marxism 2012 is honoured to have one of the leading activists from the Palestinian town Ni’lin speak on the struggle for Palestinian rights and against the apartheid wall.
The Israeli apartheid wall (3 times as long and twice as high as the Berlin wall) is designed to parcel off Palestinian land and to intimidate Palestinians. The population of Ni’lin have become famous the world over for their weekly demonstrations against the Israeli constructed concrete wall which runs right through their village.

Malalai Joya will be speaking at the conference. She’s a long standing activist from Afghanistan, and critic of the current government there and the US/Western imperialist forces.
